... LABELLING
... ILLUSTRATION
... PRINTING

My father and grandfather distilled their own blend of whisky. My brief was to incorporate our home town into the label design. Therefore, I created a sleek design, with my own contemporary illustrated version of our local landmark of Woodbridge: the ’Tide Mill’.

DRAWING PROCESS

To start, I drew a simple balck and white version of the landmark being showcased on the label. From there, I played around with colours, opacities and styles to determine my final illustration, which was still recognisable as the building, but more modern with the use layering different opacities of the same colour.

LABEL FOR PRINTING

In printing, we decided to make the metallic a shade of copper to nicely contrast the navy, using a foiling printing technique, using a textured paper stock for the label to reflect the slightly ‘rough’ feel of expensive papers. These choices all gave a modern take on a more traditional label concept.
